S. Pualani Gillespie has been a resident of Kealakekua on the Island of Hawaii for the past 8 years. She has a private practice of medical massage therapy with an emphasis on Sports rehabilitation serving the Ironman and International Cycling communities. She is also humbled by the privilege of being an active teaching staff member for the Aunty Margaret Machado family for the past 7 years. Both Aunty Margaret and Nerita Machado have been her mentors in the Traditional Hawaiian Healing Art of Lomilomi. She wishes to continue their work as she serves as the Chairman of the Traditional Hawaiian Healing Foundation, dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of the Traditional Hawaiian Healing Arts.

“Aunty” Pua is a Registered Nurse, receiving her undergraduate degrees at Gonzaga University and the University of the State of New York as well as her graduate work at the College of Saint Francis in Rehabilitative Nursing and Healthcare Administration. She has been licensed as a massage therapist in the state of Hawaii for the past 8 years.

Besides serving as the President of the Hawaii Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association, she also serves on the National Level as the Chairman of the Ethics and Standards Committee for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Her goals for the future are to see the advancement of the massage profession into the focus of the Integrative Healthcare Arena as we approach the beginning of the era of National Healthcare Policy.
